San marino: Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos concluded on Wednesday his official visit to the Republic of San Marino, marking the first official visit by a Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus to the country.
According to Cyprus News Agency, during his stay in San Marino, Kombos held a meeting with Luca Beccari, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Political Affairs, International Economic Cooperation, and Digital Transition of San Marino. Delegations from both countries were present at the meeting.
The discussions centered on bilateral relations, prospects for further strengthening cooperation between Cyprus and San Marino, EU-San Marino relations, and issues of common interest at European and international levels.
During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the field of Higher Education and Research, aiming to promote cooperation between the two countries in these areas.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs was also received by the Captains Regent of the Republic of San Marino, Alice Mina and Vladimiro Selva. He had a meeting with the Members of the Congress of San Marino and delivered an official lecture, Lectio Magistralis.
The Cypriot Foreign Minister was honored with the Grand Cross of the Knights of the Order of Saint Agatha. The visit aimed to further strengthen bilateral relations between Cyprus and San Marino, marking 40 years since the establishment of official relations, and coinciding with the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the press release concludes.
