Kesidis Wins Historic First Gold Medal for Cyprus at European Throwing Cup

Nicosia: Cypriot hammer thrower Iosif Kesidis has secured a historic first gold medal for Cyprus at the 24th European Throwing Cup that takes place in Nicosia.

According to Cyprus News Agency, in the hammer throw for men under 23 years, Kesidis threw 72.96m in his 4th throw, which secured him the gold medal.

The Cypriot gold world champion U20 last year in Lima, broke his own national record in the hammer throw under 23 years.

Hungarian Miklo Cseko won the silver medal with 71.54m, while Greek Ioannis Korakidis came third with 71.08m.
