Justice Minister and US Embassy Representatives Discuss Security Issues and Organized Crime

Nicosia: Justice and Public Order Minister Costas Fytiris met Wednesday with representatives of the US Embassy with whom he discussed bilateral cooperation on security issues and combating organised crime.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the meeting focused on the creation of a new specialised Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. This initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of the Police in addressing organized crime more effectively.

The representatives from the US Embassy expressed their commitment to supporting this initiative by offering expertise, training, and access to international collaborations and networks. The collaboration between the two parties is expected to bolster the efforts of local authorities in tackling organized crime.

Additionally, the meeting addressed issues related to firefighting and strategies for dealing with fires. The US Embassy officials expressed their willingness to contribute their expertise in this area as well, reinforcing their support for comprehensive security measures.
