Israeli Airlines Redirect Flights to Larnaca Due to Security Concerns

Nicosia: Various security considerations have prompted Israeli airlines to reroute all flights to Cyprus, landing exclusively at Larnaca International Airport. This decision, communicated by the Israeli Embassy in Nicosia to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), has resulted in the suspension of flights to and from Paphos.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Israeli authorities, following directives from the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), have instructed airlines including ELAL, Arkia, and Israir to alter their flight routes. This measure is described as a temporary consolidation, focusing all operations at Larnaca Airport due to unspecified security concerns.

The Israeli Embassy emphasized that the situation is under constant scrutiny and will be assessed in collaboration with local authorities to ensure ongoing safety. This move underscores the importance of security in international travel and reflects the dynamic nature of geopolitical considerations impacting aviation routes.
