Israel: Israel will dispatch assistance to Cyprus to help combat the wildfires, using Israeli Air Force aircraft, according to a statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel. The aircraft are scheduled to depart this evening.
According to Cyprus News Agency, at the direction of Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, and in coordination with security and emergency authorities, Israel “is preparing to provide aerial support to Cyprus in its battle against the fires sweeping the island.”
Foreign Minister Sa’ar and Cyprus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Constantinos Kombos, remain in close and continuous contact to ensure that the aid is delivered and deployed as swiftly as possible, according to the statement.
“The State of Israel stands with Cyprus, a close friend and neighbor, and remains committed to offering assistance in times of emergency,” the statement concludes.
