Stockholm: Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou will be visiting Stockholm on Thursday for separate meetings with the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Andreas Carlson, and the Minister and Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Carl-Oskar Bohlin and Johan Berggren respectively. A press release by the Ministry says that Ioannou will visit Civil Defence facilities.
According to Cyprus News Agency, during the meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Ioannou will have the opportunity to present the actions implemented by the Cyprus Government, within the framework of the integrated housing policy, with the aim of alleviating the housing problem. In view of the EU Cyprus Presidency which begins January 1st, the press release adds, the Ministers are expected to discuss the European Affordable Housing Plan and to exchange views on promoting further measures to support member states in addressing the housing problem.
During the meeting with the political leadership of the Ministry of Civil Protection, the Minister is set to present the restructuring plan for the civil protection sector of the Cyprus Republic, with the aim of increasing the level of preparedness of the services in emergency situations. The Ministers will also examine ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation on civil protection issues, in particular through the exchange of expertise, so as to strengthen the response and resilience of the two countries in cases of natural and man-made disasters, it is noted.
The Minister returns home 28 November.
