Industrial Turnover Index Rises by 3.4% in Early 2026

Nicosia: For the period January to May 2026, the Industrial Turnover Index recorded an increase of 3.4% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, according to data published on Wednesday by the Statistical Service.

According to Cyprus News Agency, in May 2026, the Industrial Turnover Index reached 148 units (base 2021=100), marking an increase of 3.5% compared to May 2025. In the manufacturing sector specifically, the index for May 2026 reached 151.4 units, which is a 2.6% rise over the same month in 2025.

The data revealed that the largest increase within the manufacturing sector was observed in the manufacturing of furniture, other manufacturing, and the repair and installation of machinery and equipment, which surged by 14.6%. Conversely, the manufacturing of machinery and equipment, motor vehicles, and other transport equipment experienced the largest decrease, falling by 10.7%.

Other sectors also saw growth, with the water supply and materials recovery sector increasing by 13.8%, the electricity supply sector growing by 6.1%, and the mining and quarrying sector expanding by 2.1%.
