Index of Consumer Prices Sees Annual Rise of 4.4% in July

Nicosia: The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) experienced a 4.4% increase in July 2026 compared to the same month in the previous year, and a 0.7% rise between June and July 2026.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Statistical Service of Cyprus reported significant changes within specific categories. Compared with July 2025, the most notable positive changes were observed in the categories of Restaurants and Accommodation Services, which rose by 12%, and Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas and Other Fuels, which increased by 7%. Conversely, the categories of Clothing and Footwear and Information and Communication experienced declines of 5.2% and 2.3% respectively.

When comparing July 2026 with June 2026, the categories of Clothing and Footwear saw a notable decrease of 10.8%, while Restaurants and Accommodation Services increased by 5.5%. The Transport category recorded a 1.9% rise, and Housing, Water, Electricity, Natural Gas and Other Fuels increased by 1.7%.

The energy category saw the largest change among economic categories with an increase of 10.2% compared to July 2025. Meanwhile, the services category recorded the largest monthly change compared to June 2026 with a 3.5% rise.
