An increase of job vacancies was recorded in the first quarter of 2022, compared to 2021, according to data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CYSTAT). Specifically, CYSTAT mentions that the number of job vacancies increased by 6,113 (90.4%).
CYSTAT data report the total number of job vacancies in the first quarter of 2022 at 12,874, with 6,113 more vacancies, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, when the number was 6,761.
Compared to the fourth quarter of 2021 the number of job vacancies increased by 3,231 (33.5%). The job vacancy rate in the first quarter of 2022 was 3.2%, while the job vacancy rate in the previous quarter and the first quarter of 2021 was 2.4% and 2.0% respectively.
Also, according to the same source, the largest job vacancy rates in the first quarter of 2022 were observed in the Sectors of Accommodation and Food Service Activities (10.2%), Administrative and Support Service Activities (4.3%), Human Health and Social Work Activities (3.4%) and Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities (3.3%).
