Deputy Director of Nursing Services, Evagoras Tambouris, told CNA on Tuesday that the month of January has seen an increase in the number of vaccinations against COVID-19 and influenza.

Until today, he added, 27,650 people have been vaccinated against COVID and 114,572 against influenza.

He noted that the increase in vaccinations occurred in January and especially after the holidays.

During this period, he said, the number of people going to the vaccination centers reaches 700-800 daily.

“The number increased quite a bit, it could have been much higher, but at least it went up to 27,650 people vaccinated,” he said.

Tambouris urged the public especially in the winter, to contact their personal doctor as to whether they should be vaccinated.

“If they do not decide to be vaccinated, they should observe hygiene practices, hand washing and wear a mask in closed spaces or where there is a crowd,” he noted.

He also recalled that the vaccination centers in the cities operate every day.
