House President to attend Summit of International Platform for Crimea

President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, departs on Tuesday for Riga to participate in the Third Parliamentary Summit of the International Platform for Crimea, following an invitation from the Speakers of the Parliaments of Latvia and Ukraine, Daiga Mierina and Ruslan Stefanchuk respectively.

A press release by the House says that the meeting, hosted by the Parliament of Latvia, will be held on the 24th of October, and will be attended by a large number of Speakers of Parliaments of European Union member states and other countries, which support the International Platform for Crimea.

The purpose of the Summit is to raise awareness of the international community at the level of leaders and public opinion about the Russian occupation of Crimea and the continuous violations of the principles of international law, including the violation of the human rights of the people of Crimea, the security situation in the Black Sea region and global food security.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the
President of the Parliament will have bilateral meetings with counterparts from the various countries.
