New delhi: House of Representatives President, Annita Demetriou, departed for New Delhi, India, where she will be engaged in an official visit until November 28. This visit comes upon the invitation of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Demetriou is accompanied by a parliamentary delegation including MPs Nikos Tornaritis, Aristos Damianou, and Christiana Erotokritou.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Demetriou’s itinerary includes an audience with Indian President Droupadi Murmu. Additionally, she will hold separate meetings with the Vice President and Speaker of the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, as well as with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who will also host an official lunch in her honor.
Demetriou is also scheduled to meet with Chairman Shashi Tharoor and members of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Indian Parliament. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and includes opportunities for the delegation to explore sites and monuments of historical and cultural significance in India.
Demetriou and her delegation are expected to conclude their official engagements and return to Cyprus on Friday, November 28.
