High temperatures continue to persist in Cyprus. According to a new yellow warning, issued by the Department of Meteorology, which is valid from 21:00 on Sunday until 18:00 on Monday, on Sunday night the temperature is not expected to fall below 28 degrees Celsius inland and below 27 degrees Celsius over coastal areas.
As for Monday, the Department of Meteorology notes that the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 42 degrees Celsius in inland areas and around 32 degrees Celsius over the higher mountainous areas.
In addition, the Department of Forests has issued a warning that the risk for forest fires on Monday remains at "code red" level.
