An exhibition titled “Heroes of Trkiye’s Century” has opened at Istanbul Airport to commemorate July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.

The exhibition, centered around the events of the defeated coup attempt that took place on the night of July 15, 2016, is open for visitors at the Departure Terminals until July 20.

During the opening ceremony, Kadri Samsunlu, the CEO of Istanbul Airport, said the events unfolding on July 15 night embody the belief of the Turkish nation in national will and democracy.

“It is our duty to recall and pass on the memories of that night to future generations, that best reflect the Turkish nation’s belief in national will and democracy,” said Samsunlu.

FETO and its US-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup on July 15, 2016, which left 252 people killed and nearly 2,200 injured.

Turkish capital Ankara accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
