Nicosia: Cyprus’ Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) experienced a year-on-year increase of 0.5% in June 2025. The Statistical Service of Cyprus released the data on Wednesday, highlighting a monthly rise of 0.4% compared with May.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the most significant annual price increases were observed in the sectors of Recreation and Culture, which rose by 7.5%, and Restaurants and Hotels, which saw a 5.5% increase. Conversely, the Clothing and Footwear sector experienced a decline of 5.0%.
On a month-to-month comparison, the largest increases in June were noted in Restaurants and Hotels, which went up by 2.3%, and Transport, which increased by 1.8%. The Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages sector decreased by 1.8% compared to May.
Over the first half of 2025, the HICP recorded an overall growth of 1.6% compared to the same period in 2024. Significant year-on-year increases for January to June were again seen in Recreation and Culture (7.4%) and Restaurants and Hotels (5.3%), while Clothing and Footwear experienced a decline of 5.4%.
In terms of economic categories, Energy recorded the largest annual decrease at 9.6%. However, when compared with May, the Services sector saw the most considerable monthly increase of 1.6%.
