Government Receives ATF Report on Limassol Wildfire, Presidency Says

Nicosia: The Government has received the report from the US Department of Justice’s Federal ATF agency, which was invited to Cyprus by President Nikos Christodoulides in connection with the recent wildfire in the Limassol mountain area, according to an announcement from the Presidency. ‘The multi-page report will be made public, as President Christodoulides had said, once all necessary measures are taken to protect personal data,’ the statement notes.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the ATF report is expected to provide detailed insights into the causes and circumstances surrounding the wildfire. The report was compiled following an investigation by the ATF agency, which specializes in explosives and arson-related incidents. The findings are anticipated to guide future preventive measures and responses to similar incidents.

President Christodoulides had earlier emphasized the importance of transparency in handling the wildfire case. The decision to make the report public aligns with this commitment, ensuring that the citizens are informed about the findings once privacy concerns are appropriately addressed. The government aims to implement any necessary recommendations that may arise from the report to enhance firefighting and prevention strategies in the region.
