German Tourism Industry Conference Held in Paphos: A Step Towards Strengthening Cyprus’ Market Presence

Paphos: A conference of representatives of the German tourism industry, held in Paphos with the participation of 250 tourism partners from Germany, is described as an important step in the efforts to further strengthening Cyprus' presence in the German tourism market.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the conference was organised by the Alfa Reisen network of travel agents and brought together representatives of airlines, travel agencies, and tour operators from Germany. Such events of this scale are considered particularly important for boosting tourist flows from key target markets, such as Germany, which can also contribute to arrivals during the winter season, the statement said.

Addressing participants during a farewell event, Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis stressed that the German market 'has always been of particular interest to us, both because of its size and the visitor profile it offers'. 'It is important for conferences of this kind to be organised in our country, as they give the partners of tour operators - the strategic partners of Cyprus' tourism sector - the opportunity to become familiar with the destination they are called upon to promote,' he said.

Koumis also noted that 80% of the conference participants were visiting Cyprus for the first time, giving them the opportunity to experience the destination firsthand, a development which, he said, is expected to yield even better results in the near future. He further recalled that, following the publication of data by the Statistical Service earlier this week, a historic record was recorded for the German market, with arrivals from Germany exceeding 250,000 for the first time in 28 years.
