Fresh to Strong Winds Expected in Cyprus Coastal Areas

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, detailing expected weather conditions for the period from 1200 on September 18, 2025, to 1200 on September 19, 2025. The forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards, with winds measured on the Beaufort scale and times referenced in local time.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the region is experiencing seasonal low pressure, which is influencing the weather conditions. The forecast predicts mainly fine weather with some initial low cloud coverage. A warning, numbered 14, has been issued, indicating the presence of fresh to strong northerly to northeasterly winds, ranging from 5 to 6 Beaufort. At times, these winds are expected to strengthen to near gale conditions, between 6 to 7 Beaufort, particularly affecting the northern, eastern, and southeastern coastal areas.

The state of the sea is anticipated to be rough in the northern and eastern parts, while the southeastern parts will experience moderate sea conditions. Visibility throughout the forecast period is expected to remain good, with sea surface temperatures recorded at 28°C. The warning is valid from 2300 on September 18 until 1000 on September 19.
