Free Health Screening Campaign Launched for Greek Cypriot Refugee Settlements in Larnaka

Larnaka: A comprehensive free health screening campaign targeting Greek Cypriot refugee settlements in Larnaka has been launched, involving the Mobile Clinic of the University of Nicosia Medical School in collaboration with various local entities. This initiative, organized with the Municipality of Larnaka, the Pancyprian Refugee Association (PEP), and the Mobile Unit of the Dental Services of the Ministry of Health, aims to provide essential health services to the residents over the next two months.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the campaign will offer screenings for blood pressure, glucose, and spirometry, alongside dental examinations and electrocardiograms (ECGs). The Mobile Unit of the Dental Services will conduct dental examinations on 12 October and 9 November, while the University of Nicosia Medical School will perform ECGs on 16 November.

A total of four events are scheduled to take place at different refugee settlements: Tsiakileros and Kokkines (Church of St. Eleftherios) on 12 October, Agioi Anargyroi (Church of St. Thekla) on 26 October, Makarios III and Kamares (Church of Apostle Barnabas) on 9 November, and Voroklini (Church of Apostle Andreas) on 16 November.

This campaign serves a dual purpose: supporting the health needs of the refugee community and allowing medical students to engage in public health initiatives under clinical supervision as part of the Medical School’s dedication to social responsibility and community outreach.
