Four evacuation flights from Sudan expected in Cyprus Friday

Four evacuation flights from Sudan are expected to land to Cyprus on Friday, according to an updated briefing by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since April 25 when Cyprus put into effect the national scheme ESTIA, until today at 1830 local time, 3 flights landed April 25, 4 on April 26 while today one flight arrived already and 3 more were expected. A total of 877 persons were evacuated from Sudan and arrived to Cyprus so far and 610 have departed on board 4 flights for the UK. As regards Cypriot nationals and their families and people of Cyprus descent, 4 nationals and 11 members of their families and people of Cyprus origin, including the honorary consul in Khartoum and his family were evacuated. Seven people were traveling to Egypt by bus. One person who originally expressed interest to be evacuated, decided to stay in the country.
