Foreign Affairs Minister Constantinos Kombos departs for New York today, on Friday, where he will accompany President Nikos Christodoulides in his contacts throughout the High Level Week in the framework of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry, during his presence in New York, Kombos will participate in a series of high-level meetings.
In particular, the Foreign Minister’s contacts will begin on Saturday September 21, with participation in a meeting organised by the Saudi Arabia-based International Organization for Digital Cooperation on Promoting Global Digital Cooperation for Prosperity.
On Monday 23 September, he will participate in meetings of the European Union and the Commonwealth Foreign Ministers, while on Wednesday 25 September he will make a statement on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus at the High-Level Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly Plenary on addressing the threats posed by sea level rise. He will also attend
the traditional dinner hosted by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on transatlantic relations.
Finally, it is stated that on Thursday 26 September he will participate in a round table discussion on the Middle East Peace Process.
Throughout the week, Minister Kombos will hold a series of bilateral contacts with his counterparts, while the trilateral Cyprus-Greece-Egypt and Cyprus-Greece-Jordan ministerial meetings will also take place, the statement concludes.
