Forecast Predicts Mainly Fine Weather Across Cyprus Seas

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea areas surrounding Cyprus, indicating that the region will experience mainly fine weather conditions for the period from 1800 on March 9, 2026, until 1800 on March 10, 2026. The forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards, with local times being used for the predictions.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast's issuance was recorded at 1019 hPa, with weak high pressure influencing the area. The sea surface temperature is noted at 18°C, and visibility is reported to be good, with no warnings issued for the period.

For the West Coast, during the night, winds are expected to be from the northeast to east at Beaufort scale 3, leading to a smooth to slight sea state. In the morning, winds will shift to northeast to southeast, occasionally reaching Beaufort scale 3 to 4, maintaining a smooth to slight sea. By the afternoon, the winds will adjust to a southeast direction at Beaufort scale 3 to 4, with some areas experiencing northwest winds, resulting in a slight sea state.

The South Coast will see northwest to northeast winds at Beaufort scale 3 during the night, later increasing to 3 to 4, resulting in a smooth to slight sea that transitions to slight. Morning conditions will bring north to northeast winds at Beaufort scale 4, occasionally reaching 4 to 5, with a slight sea expected. In the afternoon, northeast to east winds at Beaufort scale 4, occasionally 4 to 5, will maintain a slight sea state.

For the East Coast, night winds will be northwest to northeast at Beaufort scale 3 to 4, increasing to 4, leading to a slight sea. Morning conditions will see northeast winds at Beaufort scale 4, locally reaching 4 to 5, with the sea remaining slight, occasionally becoming slight to moderate. Afternoon winds will be northeast at Beaufort scale 4 to 5, locally reaching 5, with the sea state remaining slight, locally slight to moderate.

The North Coast will experience east to southeast winds at Beaufort scale 3 during the night, occasionally northeast to east at 3 to 4 offshore, resulting in a smooth to slight sea, occasionally slight offshore. Morning winds will be southeast to southwest at Beaufort scale 3, with offshore conditions at northeast to east at 4, maintaining a smooth to slight sea. By afternoon, northeast to east winds at Beaufort scale 4, occasionally reaching 4 to 5 locally, will result in a slight sea state.
