Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released the forecast for the sea area of Cyprus for the period from 6:00 AM on January 15, 2025, until 6:00 AM on January 16, 2025. The forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards and indicates that a weak high-pressure system is influencing the region. The weather is expected to be mainly fine, with some local mist and increased low cloud coverage in the morning. In the afternoon and onwards, there will be increased cloud coverage over the western and northern coasts, bringing a risk of isolated showers during the night. There is also the presence of low concentrations of dust in suspension.
According to Cyprus News Agency, visibility is expected to be generally good, though it may become moderate to poor in misty conditions. The sea surface temperature is measured at 19°C. No warnings have been issued for this period.
The wind forecast for various coasts is as follows: On the west coast, winds will transition from northeast to southeast in the
morning, then shift to west to northwest in the afternoon, and finally northwest to north at night. The sea state is predicted to be smooth to slight. On the south coast, winds will start from northwest to northeast, shifting to southeast to southwest in the afternoon, and northwest to north at night, with the sea state remaining smooth to slight. For the east coast, the wind will move from northeast to southeast in the morning, southeast to southwest in the afternoon, and west to northwest at night. The north coast will see winds from southeast to southwest in the morning, changing to west to northwest in the afternoon and at night. The sea state is expected to be slight, with local variations near the coast.
