Brussels: Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Cohesion and Reforms, Raffaele Fitto, expressed his commitment to supporting the United Nations-led process in Cyprus following his designation as the EU's Special Representative for the region. Fitto conveyed his gratitude to Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for her trust and confidence in him for this significant role.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Fitto emphasized his dedication to working closely with the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy on Cyprus, Mara ngela Holgun. He aims to facilitate conditions conducive to the resumption of negotiations and to back a comprehensive and enduring settlement. Fitto highlighted the importance of fostering trust among all stakeholders and interlocutors as part of his mission in Cyprus.
