Nicosia: The Cyprus Fire Service has issued a warning to residents, urging them to exercise caution and avoid activities that could lead to fire outbreaks. This appeal comes as forecasts predict a dry period extending until March 21, significantly increasing the risk of fires in the region.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Fire Service emphasized the heightened danger due to the Department of Meteorology’s forecast for a notably dry spell affecting the eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus until March 21, 2025. The public is advised to be vigilant and avoid any actions that might spark a fire.
The Fire Service reminded citizens that burning grass, debris, and rubbish is prohibited, as is lighting fires outside of designated areas for food preparation. They also urged the public to report any signs of smoke or fire immediately by calling emergency numbers 112 or 1407.
