Fatal Workplace Accidents Decrease in Cyprus, EU Sees Increase

Nicosia:The number of fatal accidents at work in Cyprus decreased significantly in 2024, dropping to five from 14 in 2023 and nine in 2022.

According to Cyprus News Agency, while Cyprus experienced a decline in fatal workplace accidents, the European Union as a whole saw a 1.4% increase. The total number of fatal accidents across the EU reached 3,367 in 2024.

In addition to fatal incidents, Cyprus recorded 1,320 non-fatal accidents in 2024, showing a slight increase from 1,314 in 2023, but a decrease from 1,326 in 2022. Across the EU, non-fatal workplace accidents totaled 2.78 million in 2024, reflecting a 1.5% decrease, or 43,742 fewer cases compared to the previous year.
