Eurostat: 3.6 million unemployed in the EU and 9 thousand in Cyprus found work during the 4th quarter of 2021

About 3.6 million unemployed in the European Union found a job between the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2021, according to data issued by Eurostat, the EU’s statistical service.

This number corresponds to 24.6% of all unemployed in the 3rd quarter of 2021. Also, 7.4 million (51%) remained unemployed and 3.5 million (24.5%) left the job market, becoming economically inactive.

According to data on Cyprus, 9 thousand persons that were unemployed during the 3rd quarter found a job during the 4th quarter. Another 20 thousand remained unemployed and 2 thousand left the job market.

Out of all those in employment in the EU in the 3rd quarter of 2021, 2.5 million (1.3%) became unemployed in the 4th quarter of 2021 and 5.8 million (2.9%) transitioned into economic inactivity.

In Cyprus, 5 thousand from those that were employed in the 3rd quarter became unemployed in the 4th quarter, while 7 thousand passed from the employed category into that of economic inactivity.

From those counted as economically inactive in the 3rd quarter of 2021, 5.5 million (4.7%) moved into employment in the 4th quarter of 2021 and 3.8 million (3.2%) transitioned into unemployment.

In Cyprus, 6 thousand people that were counted as economically inactive entered the job market and found a job, while 5 thousand entered the unemployed category.
