Strasbourg: The European Parliament (EP) Report on Turkey was approved on Wednesday, during a vote in Plenary in Strasbourg. Of the 659 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) who participated in the voting process, 381 endorsed the report, 107 opposed it, and 171 chose to abstain.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the response of the Cypriot MEPs was notable, with Loucas Fourlas, Michalis Hadjipantela (both from the European People's Party - EPP), Costas Mavrides (from the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats - S and D), Geadis Geadi (from the European Conservatives and Reformists - ECR), and Giorgos Georgiou (from the European United Left/Nordic Green Left - GUE/NGL) opting to abstain from the vote. Meanwhile, independent MEP Fidias Panayiotou cast a vote against the report.
