Hanoi:The European Union is offering temporary trade preferences to Armenia to aid its producers and exporters in response to recent trade restrictions imposed by Russia. These measures, effective tomorrow for two years, will liberalize nearly 80% of Armenian exports to the EU. This includes almost all exports of fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers affected by Russian restrictions, as well as over 91% of exports of beverages and spirits.
According to Cyprus News Agency, these temporary preferences are designed to ease the difficulties faced by Armenian producers and exporters, enhancing Armenia's economic resilience by improving access to the EU market. The arrangement includes conditions and safeguard measures to protect the EU market from potential adverse effects on EU producers.
These trade preferences are part of a larger support package for Armenia, announced by President von der Leyen, showing solidarity with the country affected by Russian trade restrictions.
