EU deplores decision by Moscow judicial authorities to revoke license of Novaya Gazeta

The European Union “deplores Moscow court decision to revoke @novaya_gazeta license”, Commission spokesperson for external relations Peter Stano said in a tweet.

Stano added that Novaya Gazeta is is now published in Europe as @NovayaGazeta_eu and is the newspaper of Anna Politkovskaya, who was assassinated in 2006 and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dmitry Muratov.

“The EU commends the work of Russian independent media who reject authoritarianism and war,” Stano said.
