EU Commission Approves Austria’s Third Payment Under NextGenerationEU

Brussels: The European Commission has approved Austria’s third payment request amounting to 515.5 million pounds under the Recovery and Resilience Facility, a core component of the NextGenerationEU initiative. This approval marks a significant step as Austria has successfully completed the 14 milestones and targets outlined in the Council Implementing Decision.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the approved payment covers key advancements in seven reforms and thirteen investments aimed at promoting renewable energy, circular economy, sustainable mobility, health, and education in Austria. The Commission has shared its preliminary assessment with the Economic and Financial Committee (EFC), which now has a four-week period to deliver its opinion. A positive opinion from the EFC will enable the Commission to officially sanction the payment to Austria.
