Nicosia: Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, George Papanastasiou, departs for Slovenia, where he will participate in the MED9 Ministerial Meeting on Energy and Environment, which will take place on 1 and 2 June in the city of Portoro…¾.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Summit will be attended by Ministers of Energy and Environment of the nine countries of southern Europe, including France, Greece, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Cyprus, Malta, Portugal, and Slovenia. The aim is to strengthen regional cooperation to transform the Mediterranean into a green energy hub and to enhance the region’s climate resilience.
The Summit will focus on the promotion of cross-border Renewable Energy projects, as well as on coordinated actions for the green transition and supporting the competitiveness of the Mediterranean, the press release states.
On the sidelines of the Summit, the Cypriot Minister will have the opportunity to exchange views with his counterparts on the common challenges faced by the Mediterranean countries and to highlight the positions of the Republic of Cyprus on issues of energy strategy and sustainable development. He will also explore possibilities for strengthening cooperation at bilateral and regional levels, the press release concludes.
