Ankara: The end of terrorism will raise hopes and bring new momentum to the region, Trkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said. According to TRTworld.com, Erdogan highlighted the significance of closing the chapters of terrorism, as seen in Syria recently, stating that such developments would foster hope and usher in a new wave of optimism across the region. He made these remarks during a special programme in Ankara commemorating Trkiye's August 30 Victory Day, which celebrates the 1922 battle that halted the Greek advance in western Anatolia, ultimately leading to the establishment of the Republic of Trkiye. Erdogan expressed that Trkiye is at a pivotal moment to start a new chapter after enduring significant challenges. He emphasized the country's determination to seize this opportunity and further strengthen cooperation with its neighbors and regions sharing cultural and historical ties. In a message to those attempting to provoke Trkiye, Erdogan advised revisiting history. He reaffirmed Trkiye's resolve to protect its independence, citing the sacrifices made throughout its history as evidence of the nation's resilience and readiness to defend its sovereignty. Additionally, Erdogan addressed the recent passenger ship capsize off the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), assuring that Trkiye would collaborate with Turkish Cypriot authorities to investigate the incident and hold those accountable. The president offered his condolences to TRNC President Tufan Erhurman and Prime Minister Unal Ustel in the wake of the tragedy.
