Paphos: Nikolaus Kritz, Executive Director of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), will be in Cyprus to participate in the 99th Meeting of the EFSA Advisory Forum, set to take place in Paphos on March 4-5.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Kritz, during a meeting with Cypriot Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Michalis Hatzipantela, addressed the ongoing foot-and-mouth disease crisis in Cyprus. He assured that EFSA stands prepared to deliver scientific assessments and guidance on preventive strategies to safeguard both livestock and public health in the region.
The EFSA Advisory Forum website indicates that Cyprus is represented by Rebecca Kokkinofta, Head of the State General Laboratory. The alternate member of the Advisory Forum for Cyprus is Senior Chemist Charitini Frenaritou, who hails from the State General Laboratory and the Ministry of Health.
The draft agenda for the meeting, which will outline the key topics and discussions, is anticipated to be released in the coming days.
