Akrotiri: The two drones that targeted the British Base in Akrotiri, Cyprus, on Monday, causing limited damages, were launched from Lebanon by Hezbollah, CNA learns. The drones were not intercepted because they were not detected due to their small size and low altitude.
According to Cyprus News Agency, senior government sources in Nicosia confirmed that the drones did not target the infrastructure of the Republic of Cyprus, whose protection falls under the government's jurisdiction. The same sources noted that, as a precaution, Nicosia is cooperating with Greece and other countries, which will be announced once there is something definite.
The same sources also noted that USA fighter aircrafts are not stationed in Cyprus, nor will they be in the future.
