‘Do Not Come to the Embassy Unless It Is Urgent,’ US Embassy in Cyprus Warns Citizens

Nicosia: The U.S. Embassy in Nicosia, Cyprus, has issued a strong advisory for American citizens, urging them to avoid visiting the Embassy unless it is an emergency. This warning comes amid reports of a potential drone threat in the Paphos area.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Embassy has emphasized the importance of vigilance among U.S. citizens in Cyprus. In a message released earlier on Monday, the Embassy advised, "There are reports of a possible drone threat in the Paphos area. Do not come to the Embassy unless it is urgent. We urge all U.S. citizens in Cyprus to remain vigilant and stay safe."

The Embassy has provided safety guidance for scenarios involving a missile or drone attack. Citizens have been advised to seek immediate shelter if they hear explosions or sirens, to remain indoors and away from windows and exterior walls, and to avoid military or government areas. The Embassy highlighted that even drones or missiles that are intercepted can produce hazardous debris, underscoring the need for caution and adherence to official updates.

Additionally, the Embassy has recommended that Americans limit unnecessary travel during periods of active alerts to ensure their safety.
