Nicosia: The Digital Assistant artificial intelligence (AI) tool is, as of Monday, also accessible through the ‘Digital Citizen’ application, the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy said in a statement. It added that the Digital Assistant replies to citizens’ questions on a 24-hour basis, in Greek and English, while it can also understand Greeklish text.
According to Cyprus News Agency, citizens may type their questions or submit them orally, using the voice assistant feature. The Deputy Ministry notes that the Digital Assistant responds to issues concerning Social Insurance Services, including Parental Leave, Unemployment, Maternity/Paternity or Sickness Allowance, Pension and Disability Pension, Social Insurance, and Termination of Employment. Additionally, it covers Welfare Benefits such as Child Allowance, Single-Parent Family Allowance, Minimum Guaranteed Income (GMI), allowance for women with many children, Children’s Tuition Subsidy Scheme, and Housing and Care Subsidy Scheme in nursing homes, among others.
The application also offers assistance with electronic ID (eID), vehicle recalls, and the ‘Digital Citizen’ application, which is the official application of the Cyprus Government for mobile devices. According to the Deputy Ministry, the range of thematic areas covered by the Digital Assistant will continue to grow. To date, the Digital Assistant has received over 55,000 questions via the gov.cy portal, averaging 500 questions per day.
