Deputy Minister Irene Pikis to Visit Finland for Strategic Governance Talks

Helsinki: Deputy Minister to the President, Irene Pikis, will pay a working visit to Helsinki, accompanied by members of the Secretariat for Coordination and Support of Government Work.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Pikis is scheduled to meet Risto Artjoki, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, to discuss strategic planning and the monitoring of government work.

Additionally, Pikis will engage with the Director General of the Strategy Department, Harri Martikainen, and his team to exchange best practices and explore potential areas of cooperation. The Strategy Department, part of the Office of the Prime Minister of Finland, is recognized as a model for monitoring government commitments and strategic governance coordination.

The visit will also include a meeting focused on planning the Strategic Analysis and Forecasting Unit (Foresight Unit) at the Presidency of the Republic. This unit aims to enhance the state’s capacity to anticipate future challenges and design long-term impactful policies.

This mission is a component of the reform for establishing the Secretariat for Coordination and Support of Government Projects, with backing from the European Commission. The visit is an important step towards founding the Secretariat and marks the start of a cooperative relationship with Finland, involving knowledge exchange, joint initiatives, and Cyprus’s active participation in European strategic planning and governance networks.

The overarching goal of the mission is to establish a more effective, modern, and reliable state that can meet the needs of its citizens and future challenges.
