Delegation of German MPs to Visit Cyprus for EU Affairs Discussion

Nicosia: A delegation of the German Parliament Committee on EU Affairs will pay Cyprus a visit to discuss the program and priorities of the current Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.

According to Cyprus News Agency, "In light of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union, close contacts and regular exchange between Cypriot and German parliamentarians are of utmost importance. The visit contributes to further strengthening the already excellent relations between Cyprus and Germany," a press release by the German Embassy in Nicosia says.

The delegation comprises a total of six Members of the German Parliament from the Social Democratic Party (SPD) - Johannes Schraps, as Head of Delegation -, the Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) - Dr. David Preisendanz and Alexander Radwan -, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) - Pierre Lamely -, B€¦‚¬Å“NDNIS 90/DIE GR€¦‚¬Å“NEN - Julian Joswig - and Die Linke - Janina B¶ttger.

According to the press release, the delegation will hold talks with the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs of the Cypriot House of Representatives. Furthermore, the program includes meetings with the Secretary-General for European Affairs, Ambassador Charis Christodoulidou, and Evgenios Epaminondas, Development Officer at the Directorate for Cohesion Policy and the Multiannual Financial Framework of the Cypriot Ministry of Finance.

The delegation will also meet representatives of the economic sector and civil society, it concludes.
