Cyprus Coastal Weather Forecast Indicates Isolated Showers and Smooth Seas

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area extending 8 kilometers seawards from Cyprus, covering the period from 1800 on January 16, 2026, to 1800 on January 17, 2026. The forecast highlights the influence of weak high pressure in the region, which is expected to result in increased cloud coverage and isolated showers, particularly affecting the west and north coasts of the island.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the forecast details that the winds across various coastal areas will range between 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale, indicating relatively calm conditions. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1020 hPa. Throughout the period, visibility is expected to remain good, except during showers when it may reduce to moderate. The sea surface temperature is predicted to be around 19°C.

The forecast specifies that the west coast will experience north to northeast winds at night, transitioning to southwest to northwest and then variable winds by afternoon, with the state of the sea ranging from smooth to slight. Similarly, the south coast will see changes in wind direction from northwest to north at night, shifting throughout the day, with the sea conditions remaining smooth to slight.

For the east coast, the night will begin with west to northwest winds, changing direction by morning and afternoon, with the sea state initially smooth to slight, becoming slightly rougher later. The north coast is expected to have southeast to southwest winds at night, transitioning throughout the day with similar sea conditions.

No warnings have been issued for the forecast period, indicating a relatively stable marine environment around Cyprus for the specified timeframe.
