Defence Ministers Discuss Greece-Cyprus Cooperation in Thessaloniki

Nicosia: Greece and Cyprus’ Defence Ministers discussed bilateral cooperation in the framework of recent international developments, during a meeting they had in Thessaloniki, Greece on Tuesday.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas met with his Greek counterpart, Nikos Dendias, as part of their regular meetings. Dendias shared on X, “We discussed defence cooperation and the latest international developments regarding security issues, among other things.”

The meeting also covered the potential for Greece-Cyprus cooperation or a joint plan that could be funded by the European Union’s SAFE scheme, focusing on sectors such as research and innovation. Dendias highlighted these aspects in his post.

Cyprus’ Ministry of Defence also posted on X about the meeting, emphasizing that the Ministers discussed “the latest developments in the area, defence and security as well as aspects of the 3rd Cyprus-Greece Intergovernmental Summit, which will take place soon.”
