Defence Minister to Participate in Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels

Brussels: Minister of Defence Vasilis Palmas will participate in the Foreign Affairs Council (Defence) taking place on February 11 in Brussels. The Foreign Affairs Council with defence ministers will exchange views on EU military support for Ukraine and hold an informal discussion on the security and defence outlook for 2026.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Ministers will discuss how the EU will continue to support Ukraine, placing emphasis on enhanced defence cooperation and additional funding options. Furthermore, the Ministers are set to discuss ways to further strengthen the operational capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the EUMAM mission (European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine), which provides military assistance and support.

Finally, they will discuss the security and defence outlook for 2026 and exchange views on adapting Europe's security architecture to a rapidly changing international environment.
