Cyprus’ Minister of Defence, Vasilis Palmas, is to attend the Foreign Affairs Council in its defence configuration in Brussels on Tuesday but also the Schuman Security and Defence Forum 2024.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Defence, Palmas is to participate in a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in its defence configuration, which will take place on May 28.
During the meeting, it said, topics expected to be discussed include the long-term review of the European Defence Agency, EU support for Ukraine, EU defence preparedness, and current developments.
Palmas is to also participate in the Schuman Security and Defence Forum 2024 which will take place on May 28 and 29.
It is noted that, in addition to the EU member states, a large number of states and international organisations have been invited to the Forum. The goal, it adds, is to highlight cooperation between all partners for achieving and maintaining conditions of peace and security in a geopolitical environment “full of challe
nges and threats”.
