DBRS and S&P Set to Announce Cyprus’ Credit Rating Evaluations in September

Nicosia: The decisions of two international credit rating agencies on the creditworthiness of the Republic of Cyprus will be announced in September.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Canadian agency DBRS Morningstar will announce its decision on the credit rating of Cyprus' economy on 4 September, followed by the US agency Standard and Poor's (S and P) on 18 September. Cyprus is currently investment grade with all major credit rating agencies.

On 13 March 2026, DBRS confirmed the Republic of Cyprus' long-term rating at A, with a stable outlook, due to the strong growth momentum of the Cypriot economy, which remained robust over the past year. The agency highlighted that Cyprus' credit ratings were supported by the government's strong fiscal performance in recent years, the sound financial position of the banking sector, and the stable domestic political environment.

Cyprus' credit rating was also confirmed by Standard and Poor's on 20 March 2026. S and P affirmed the country's rating at A-, while maintaining a positive outlook, stating that the Cypriot economy is expected to maintain strong growth in the coming years.

Capital Intelligence Ratings will also announce its decision on the rating of Cyprus' economy on 18 September. On 20 March, the agency confirmed Cyprus' credit rating at BBB+, with a stable outlook.

In November, further assessments of the Cypriot economy are expected by the US agencies Fitch Ratings and Moody's. Fitch will announce its decision on the credit rating of Cyprus' economy on 6 November 2026, while Moody's will announce its decision on 20 November.

On 8 May 2026, Fitch maintained the Republic of Cyprus' rating at A-, while keeping the country's outlook positive. On 29 May, Moody's completed its periodic review of Cyprus, maintaining the country's credit rating at A3, with a stable outlook.
