Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued its latest forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, predicting that the region will be under the influence of seasonal low pressure. The forecast, covering an area extending 8 kilometers seawards, indicates primarily fine weather conditions, though there will be instances of increased low cloud coverage overnight and in the morning. Mist and fog patches are anticipated, particularly over the southern and eastern coastal areas during night and dawn, affecting visibility.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance is recorded at 1008 hPa. Visibility is expected to be generally good, but conditions may vary from moderate to poor in mist and very poor in fog. The sea surface temperature is noted at 29°C, with no significant warnings issued for the period.
The forecast details the wind and sea conditions for various coasts. On the West Coast, winds are expected to shift gradually from West to Northwest at night, transitioning to a Variable pattern by morning, and then moving to Southwest to Northwest in the afternoon. The sea state will remain smooth to slight throughout. The South Coast will see a similar pattern with variations in wind direction and a consistent smooth to slight sea state. For the East Coast, winds will vary from Southwest to Northwest at night, with a gradual shift during the day maintaining a smooth to slight sea. The North Coast will experience winds from Southwest to West, turning variable, and finally moving to Southwest to Northwest, with the sea remaining smooth to slight.
