Sanaa:The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, covering a distance of 8 kilometers seawards. The forecast period is from 0600 on October 9, 2026, until 0600 on October 10, 2026.
According to Cyprus News Agency, a weak high-pressure system is beginning to affect the area, resulting in mainly fine weather. However, there will be periods of locally increased cloud coverage. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1018 hPa.
Visibility in the area is expected to remain good, with no warnings in effect. The sea surface temperature is currently at 26°C.
For the west coast, the morning will see northwest to northeast winds at 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale, later shifting to northwest at 4, with the sea state being smooth to slight. By afternoon, northwest winds will pick up to 4, sometimes reaching 4 to 5 locally, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state. At night, winds will vary from northwest to north at 3 to 4, with conditions near the coast seeing north to northeast winds at 3.
On the south coast, morning winds will transition from northwest to northeast at 3, later shifting to southwest to west at 3 to 4, with smooth to slight sea conditions. In the afternoon, winds will be southwest to west at 3 to 4, occasionally reaching 4, with sea conditions remaining smooth to slight. At night, northwest to north winds at 3 are expected, occasionally reaching 3 to 4 locally.
Along the east coast, morning winds will vary from northwest to northeast at 3, later increasing locally to 3 to 4, with a smooth to slight sea state. In the afternoon, north to northeast winds at 3 will occasionally rise to 3 to 4 locally, with the sea remaining smooth to slight. By night, northwest winds at 3, occasionally reaching 3 to 4 locally, will maintain smooth to slight conditions.
For the north coast, morning winds will be northwest at 3, later increasing to 3 to 4, with smooth to slight sea conditions. In the afternoon, northwest winds will range from 3 to 4, locally increasing to 4, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state. At night, variable winds at 3, with offshore northwest winds at 3 to 4, will continue to produce smooth to slight conditions.
