Cyprus Weather Forecast: Isolated Showers and Thunderstorm Risk Expected

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, indicating a weak low-pressure system affecting the region for the period from 0600 on February 7, 2026, to 0600 on February 8, 2026. The forecast area extends 8 kilometers seawards, with wind conditions measured on the Beaufort scale.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the current atmospheric pressure is noted at 1010 hPa. The weather is expected to be partly cloudy, becoming mainly cloudy at times, with isolated showers and a risk of thunderstorms, although these conditions are anticipated to weaken after noon. Morning hours may see increased low cloud coverage, along with local mist and fog patches, while dust will remain suspended in the atmosphere.

Visibility is generally good, though it may be locally moderate. The sea surface temperature is recorded at 18°C. There are no warnings currently in effect.

For the West Coast, winds in the morning will be from the southwest to west, ranging from 4 on the Beaufort scale, gradually increasing locally to 4 to 5. The sea state is expected to be slight, becoming locally slight to moderate. In the afternoon, winds will shift to southwest to northwest at 4 to 5, with the sea remaining slight to moderate. At night, winds will decrease slightly to southwest to northwest at 3 to 4, with a gradual local shift near the coast to north to northeast at 3, resulting in a slight to moderate sea, easing to slight near the coast.

The South Coast will see morning winds from the southwest to west at 3 to 4, increasing to 4 to 5, with a slight sea state becoming slight to moderate. Afternoon conditions will bring southwest to west winds at 4 to 5, locally reaching 5 to 6, with a slight to moderate sea. At night, winds will ease to southwest to west at 3 to 4, gradually shifting to southwest to northwest at 3, with a slight to moderate sea, easing slightly.

For the East Coast, morning winds will be southwest to west at 3 to 4, becoming southwest at 4 to 5, with the sea state shifting from slight to slight to moderate. Afternoon conditions bring southwest winds at 5, later shifting to southwest to west at 3 to 4, with a slight to moderate sea, later easing to slight. At night, winds will be west to northwest at 3 to 4, gradually decreasing to 3, with a slight sea, easing to smooth to slight.

On the North Coast, morning winds are expected to be south to southwest at 4 to 5, occasionally reaching 5 to 6 offshore, with a slight to moderate sea. Afternoon winds will shift to southwest to west at 4 to 5, locally at first reaching 5, with the sea remaining slight to moderate. At night, winds will ease to southwest to west at 3 to 4, gradually shifting to southeast to southwest at 3, with a slight to moderate sea, easing to slight.
