Cyprus Shows Limited Use of Circular Economy Funds

Nicosia:A European Parliament study has highlighted limited utilization of Cohesion Policy funds allocated for the circular economy in Cyprus.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the study titled 'Circular Economy and Cohesion Policy Funds' was prepared for the European Parliament's Committee on Regional Development (REGI). It examines the funding, implementation progress, and geographical distribution of circular economy investments within the Cohesion Policy framework.

The study indicates that Cyprus, along with Croatia and Spain, demonstrates 'very limited financial mobilization' in terms of commitment and expenditure rates for circular economy resources. In contrast, countries like the Netherlands, Czechia, Finland, Austria, and Belgium have shown higher commitment and expenditure rates.

The report also notes that Cyprus, together with Hungary, Latvia, Malta, and Romania, has a centrally organized system where support predominantly targets environmental infrastructure.
