Cannes: Cyprus participates in a joint exhibition stand at the Film Market (March© du Film) during the Cannes Film Festival, held from May 12-21, 2026, alongside Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, and Montenegro.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the participation of Cyprus in the event serves to enhance the Cypriot film industry's presence in areas such as co-productions, distribution, sales, and official selections at international festivals. This participation promotes Cypriot cinema and encourages co-productions between Cyprus and other countries. The Deputy Ministry of Culture emphasized the promotion of Cypriot creators and films at festivals worldwide in a press release issued on Saturday.
Deputy Minister of Culture Vasiliki Kassianidou visited the stand, where foreign professionals were informed about the funding schemes available from the Deputy Ministry, ongoing Cypriot productions, and the international festivals hosted on the island. The Deputy Ministry highlighted the event's role in promoting Cyprus as an appealing filming destination and a cultural hub.
Cyprus is also represented in the festival's official screening schedule with the short film "Free Eliza" by Alexandra Mattheou, which is featured in Quinzaine des Cin©astes. Mattheou's upcoming film "Shibboleth," currently under development, will participate in Cannes Focus COPRO, a co-production forum for projects in development. Additionally, Andreas Kyriakou's upcoming documentary "Tracking: The Cyprus Tigers" will be showcased in the Buyers Showcase within the Fantasia - Fronti¨res Co-production Market for works in progress.
Moreover, producer Constantinos Nikiforou has been selected to participate in the Producers on the Move program by the European Film Promotion (EFP).
