Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released the latest forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, valid from noon on January 6, 2025, to noon on January 7, 2025. The department reports that weak high pressure is currently influencing the region, resulting in mainly fine weather but with areas of increased cloud coverage.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1020 hPa. The visibility in the area is expected to remain good, with a sea surface temperature of 19°C. No warnings have been issued for the forecast period, suggesting stable maritime conditions.
On the west coast, winds in the afternoon are expected to be southeast to southwest at Beaufort scale 3, occasionally reaching 3 to 4 locally, resulting in a sea state ranging from smooth to slight. Overnight, the winds will shift northeast to east at a similar strength, and by morning, they will change to northeast to southeast, gradually becoming southeast to southwest at Beaufort scale 3 to 4, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state.
The south coast will experience northeast winds at Beaufort scale 4, locally reaching 4 to 5 in the afternoon, causing a slight to locally moderate sea state. At night, the winds will be north to northeast 3 to 4, offshore reaching 4, with the sea state ranging from smooth to slight, slightly higher offshore. By morning, north to northeast winds at Beaufort scale 3 to 4 will prevail, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state.
For the east coast, afternoon winds will be northeast at Beaufort scale 4, at times locally reaching 4 to 5, resulting in a slight to moderate sea. Overnight, winds will shift to north to northeast 3 to 4, occasionally reaching 4 offshore, keeping the sea state slight. Morning conditions will see north to northeast winds at Beaufort scale 3 to 4, at times locally reaching 4, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state, occasionally slight locally.
The north coast will experience northeast to east winds at Beaufort scale 4 in the afternoon, occasionally reaching 4 to 5 offshore, resulting in a slight to occasionally moderate sea state.
